Street Kitchen Crispy Chicken Burger
Among the wide range of lovingly developed dishes Street Kitchen's Jun Tanaka and Mark Jankel serve up from their Battersea Hatch and shiny airstream around town are two burgers they pull out the bag on Fridays only...
One, named the Buffalo Bill, features a well-aged beef patty, mature cheddar, smoked mustard mayo, pickled red onions and ketchup. If it sounds similar to Patty & Bun's Ari Gold well, that's because it is. As mentioned in my P&B write up (see previous post), the Ari Gold was conceived in development sessions in which Street Kitchen's Mark Jankel and P&B's Joe Grossman experimented with various ideas and ingredients to create awesome burgers. The truth is that I've not actually tried A Buffalo Bill yet - the main reason being that Mark Jankel was much more keen for me to try one of his Crispy Chicken Burgers - a bona fide Street Kitchen exclusive.
Before I get all emotional about this burger, let me talk you through it from top to bottom seeing as the only picture I took before stuffing it into my happy face is the cut through shown top of this post. Fuck it here's the image again:
So, starting from the top you've got a brioche bun, Winchy mayo (so-called because it's made with Old Winchester cheese), pickled red onions, thin and crispy dry cured smoked bacon sourced from Devon Rose, chicken leg (proper free range from SJ Fredericks AKA Label Anglais) that has been brined overnight, steamed for two hours and then crisped up on the skin side on the grill (for mind-blowingly crispy skin), coleslaw (with apple and mint), soft lettuce, a splat more Winchy mayo, and, finally, the bottom half of the brioche bun. W.O.W!
OK, now it's time for me to get emotional: This magical handful of gastronomic joy is up there with the most cleverly conceived burgers in town / the whole freakin' world *wipes tear from eye* and, fellow burger-loving nutbags take careful note, it's available on Friday and Saturday evenings from The Hatch in Battersea from 7.30pm til late. As is the Buffalo Bill, which, as mentioned, probably ain't too dissimilar to Patty & Bun's Ari Gold burger. Oh, and if you think P&B's chicken wings are good, you're gonna love Street Kitchen's take on smoked confit wings, they're ridiculously good. Yup, I know where I'm gonna be lunching next Friday - see y'all at the SK airstream!

Enter broad gate circle from Eldon Street or Liverpool Street Station. You'll see the airstream at the top of the stairs.
